ALSTIG INC ("ALSTIG," "we," "us") publishes the website at alstiginc.com and a family of iOS apps available through the Apple App Store. This page describes what data we collect, how we use it, and how you can contact us about it.
Website (alstiginc.com)
The website collects basic anonymous analytics through PostHog: page views, click events on calls-to-action, scroll depth, and FAQ-toggle interactions. These signals help us understand which content is useful. We do not collect names, email addresses, phone numbers, or other identifying information through the website unless you explicitly send a message via the contact link.
The website does not use third-party advertising trackers, cross-site tracking pixels, or social-network widgets that load identifying scripts.
Mobile Apps
Each ALSTIG app handles data differently depending on what the app does. The general principle: data stays on your device unless an app feature explicitly requires sending information to a server. App-specific privacy practices are disclosed in each app's App Store listing under "App Privacy" and in the Google Play "Data safety" section. Those disclosures are the authoritative source for what each app collects, where it processes data, and what is shared.
- The Restaurant Consultant: sends prompts to AI services (Anthropic) for the analysis features; your restaurant data is stored in your account on ALSTIG's servers.
- Review Responder: sends review text to AI services to draft replies; reply drafts are stored locally until you post them. Current versions also send anonymous usage statistics (app opens, feature use and purchase steps) through PostHog, tied to a random install ID. Your location is not recorded, and these statistics are not used for advertising or tracking.
- VendorWatch: sends invoice images to a server-side AI service for OCR; line-item data and price history are stored locally on your device in SQLite. From version 1.0.9 the app also sends anonymous usage statistics (app opens and which screens are used) through PostHog, tied to a random install ID. Your location is not recorded, and these statistics are not used for advertising or tracking.
- MenuCraft: sends menu content to AI services for layout assistance; outputs are saved locally. From version 1.1.5 the app also sends anonymous usage statistics (app opens and which screens are used) through PostHog, tied to a random install ID, and crash reports (device model, OS and app version, and the error) through Sentry. Your location is not recorded, and neither is used for advertising or tracking.
- MyCookbook: recipes are stored locally on your device. The app sends anonymous usage statistics (app opens and sessions) through PostHog; versions before 1.3.14 also derived an approximate city from your network address. The app includes the Meta (Facebook) SDK to measure our advertising: it reports installs, launches and in-app purchases, and on iOS shares your advertising identifier only if you allow tracking. - ChefScale: scaling math runs on your device and recipes are stored on your device. Photos or text you choose to scan are sent to our server for recipe extraction and are not kept after the request. To enforce the daily scan limit, the server stores a random install ID. From version 1.2.10 the app also sends anonymous usage statistics (for example app opens, recipes created, scaling and paywall views) with a shortened install ID. These are not linked to your identity, are not used for advertising or tracking, and are kept for about 90 days.
- Mouton's Kitchen Manual: the recipe library, prep guides and checklists are built into the app. Signing in with your email is optional. If you sign in, we keep your email address to send your 6-digit sign-in code and to record whether it owns the full manual, so the manual opens on the web and on your other devices. For a purchase made in the app, we also keep the RevenueCat customer ID that confirmed it. A purchase on cookbook.alstiginc.com is processed by Stripe, which tells us the email address and that the payment went through; we never see your card details. You can delete your account, and this record, at any time from the account button in the app. Apart from that, nothing you do in the app is sent to us except anonymous usage statistics. The app and cookbook.alstiginc.com send which pages are viewed through PostHog, tied to a random ID. Your location is not recorded, and these statistics are not used for advertising or tracking. The one-time unlock is handled by the App Store and RevenueCat in the app, or by Stripe on the website.
For all apps: we do not sell your data, we do not build advertising profiles ourselves, and we do not retain personal data beyond what is operationally necessary. Subscription billing is handled by the App Store and RevenueCat; ALSTIG does not see your payment information.
Cookies
The website uses a single first-party PostHog cookie for distinguishing repeat visits in anonymous analytics. We do not use third-party advertising or tracking cookies.
Children's Privacy
ALSTIG products are intended for adult restaurant operators and their staff. We do not knowingly collect data from children under 13.
Data Requests
You can request a copy of any data we hold about you, request deletion, or ask questions about this policy by emailing ben@alstiginc.com. We respond within 30 days.
Changes to this Policy
If we change how we handle data, we update this page and the "Last updated" date at the top. Material changes are also announced in-app for affected users.
